How to Protect Your Skin from Harmful UV Rays

We Aussies love the sun,

But UV damage is the leading cause of ageing.

We get it. That summer glow sure is sexy. But, it’s short-lived, unlike the effects of the sun. Being exposed to the sun’s harmful UV rays for years contributes significantly to the ageing process.

A good skincare cream will fight the appearance of sun spots, uneven skin texture and discolouration. And our Age IQ skincare creams are one of the best examples. The day version of our skincare creams has vitamin E in it – a natural protector against UV damage that helps reduce the formation of free radicals and locks in moisture.

And we know that UV radiation is one of the initiators of free radicals – the oxygen molecules that damage cells at the molecular level. What happens then? It increases the number of enzymes that break down those all-important collagen levels. As we age, our bodies produce less collagen, so sun protection (and a good skincare cream) becomes even more critical. Our skincare creams aim to combat the formation of free radicals and reduce the breakdown of collagen with ingredients like peptide blend and CoQ10.

Another ingredient in this skincare cream is vitamin C, an antioxidant that brightens your skin. Pairing your Age IQ skincare cream with other anti-wrinkle solutions, like cleansers and eye serums, will further nourish your post-sun skin.

With dehydration being one of the other major accelerators of ageing, hydration is a focus of our skincare creams. This is why we’ve curated moisture-locking ingredients like aloe barbadensis leaf water and sodium hyaluronate in our skincare creams.

Invest in a good skincare cream, limit your exposure in the sun (especially between 10.00AM – 4.00PM), and always, always wear sunscreen. No matter if it’s sunny or an overcast day, apply sunscreen after your skincare cream.

Make this a daily habit. Even if you don’t like the greasy texture of sunscreen, find a lighter option. This is where having a deep-penetrating cleanser is important, to prep your fresh face for the skincare cream.

Also, don’t forget to take care of the rest of your body. Start with your face (with a good skincare cream), then move onto your neck, arms, stomach and legs. We have a body firming skincare cream with many of the hydrating, healing ingredients mentioned above.

Love the sun? Great. Just make sure you’re also taking care of your body, using an anti-ageing skincare cream like Age IQ. Being sun smart goes beyond slip, slop, and slap.
