7-tips-for-party-seasonIt’s that time of the year again! The decorations are coming out, family and friends are getting together, and work Christmas parties are popping up at every restaurant and bar in the city. All that time in meetings, not drinking enough water, and not washing your skin at the end of a long work day leads too sad, dull, unhappy skin.

If you want to look fresh, fierce, and fabulous over the Christmas season, follow these 8 tips for party proof skin:

  • Wash your face
  • It may sound super simple, but washing your face day and night helps to get rid of impurities, dead skin cells, and dirt/dust from air pollution. After taking make-up off or preparing the skin, ensure that you use the right cleanser for your skin type. Finish with either Neora Day or Night Age-Defying cream.

  • Cut back on the alcohol
  • It might be time to get a little silly and take our shoes off, however, what we eat and drink on a daily basis can affect our skin. Try and limit to 1-2 alcoholic or sugary beverages a week and make it that your primary fuel is water. At least 1.5 – 2 litres a day to keep skin fully hydrated and healthy. You can always switch it up a bit and add cucumber, lemon, or mint to make your water just that bit more refreshing

  • Beauty Sleep
  • Ever noticed how some of your friends wake up looking super fresh, and others feel the need to cake on the make-up to cover baggy eyes? The simple answer is making sure you get enough sleep. About half an hour before bed, remove all screens and devices to help restore your eyes to natural lighting. It can be a little tricky at first but switching off means it’s easier for you to switch off.

  • Be sun smart
  • Use a 50+ waterproof sunscreen when swimming or exercising and a 15-30+ nonwaterproof every day. Enjoy the beautiful, summery weather but just be mindful of those often forgotten areas like the neck, chest, and hands.

  • Go make-up free
  • With plenty of social gatherings and festivities, we sometimes tend to forget how much make-up we are applying to our skin every day. Let your skin breathe over the weekend or go to work completely make-up free. It may seem a little daunting, but your skin will thank you for it.

  • Good nutrition
  • Good skin starts with a healthy diet, however, we all know how hard that is to maintain during the festive season. Always start your day with fibre – it helps get rid of toxins to help your skin glow. Keep your diet rich in vitamins and minerals to help vitalise your skin.

  • Cut your shower time
  • Hot, steamy showers are the wake-up call we all need early in the morning, but it can increase skin dryness and irritation (flaky skin anyone?). Stick to a lukewarm or only wash your face with cold water.

Making sure every element of your day to day life and adjusting can lead to better skin. By the time it’s Christmas day and as the parties roll out – you’ll be feeling fantastic inside and out.
