The Skincare Regime For A Dry, Flaky Complexion

Got that seasonal dryness?

There’s an easy fix.

Always in airconditioning with your skin crying out for moisture? Spent a day at the beach and reaching for the after-sun gel? Or maybe, it’s just dry from a long, cold winter.

Whatever the reason for your dry face, you can fix it quickly with a hydrating skincare cream. And the best thing is, if you choose the right skincare cream, you can use it all year, no matter what season it is. Because like we’ve said many times, it’s all about the ingredients in your skincare cream.

So, on top of investing in a quality, natural skincare cream, there are other things that you can do to minimise that damn dryness.

Pay attention to your shower time.

The time you spend prepping for your skincare cream matters, too. Limit your shower time to five or 10 minutes and use warm water, not hot. And of course, wash with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser. It should remove all the dirt and oil, without stripping the skin.

Applying the skincare cream.

Blot your face softly and apply the skincare cream while you’re still damp. Why? Because it traps in the much-needed moisture. To tackle that dryness head on, make sure your skincare cream has ingredients such as jojoba oil, hyaluronic acid and glycerin.

This goes for all of your beauty products, not just your skincare cream. Avoid deodorant soaps and anything that contains alcohol, fragrance, retinoids or alpha-hydroxy acid. By sticking with botanical skincare creams, your skin will retain its natural oils.

Buy a humidifier.

This is a very underrated tip for anyone who battles a dry complexion. Gas and electric heat strip moisture from the air, so grab yourself a humidifier to offset this effect. Use this year-round to keep your skin looking like you’ve just returned from two weeks in the tropics (with your botanical skincare cream at work, too).

Avoid allergens & irritants.

While your skincare cream will help protect your face, it’s important to be proactive and learn about what you’re sensitive to.

If you’ve suddenly noticed your skin has gone dry, pay attention to what you’ve been around. Did you swim in a pool? Maybe your skin is compromised due to the chlorine. Just bought a new brand of makeup? Your skin will tell you whether it’s safe.

It’s important to preserve your biggest organ. Keep things simple and invest in botanical, dermatologically-proven skincare creams, like Neora’s Age IQ. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen before you apply the skincare cream to prevent sun damage.

If you’re still worried about the level of dryness, even after implementing our day and night skincare cream regime, don’t be afraid to visit a dermatologist to make sure you’re not allergic to anything.

But, we have a good feeling you won’t need to.
