Top Tips for Caring for Skin in Summer

Life’s A Beach!

Humidity, sunburn and double the cocktails. We tend to indulge ourselves a little more in summer.

This is why caring for your skin is even more important during the hot months. And with the temperature starting to rise, it’s time to go through tips on how you can give your skin a summer holiday.

Before your succumb to that glistening pool and jump right in, follow these five simple tips to protect your skin in our hot, Aussie sun.

Get that natural summer glow

From products and regimes to exercise and diet, achieve glowing skin, year-round.

  1. Exfoliate your skin

Before your apply your skincare, don’t forget to exfoliate. Every day, your body sheds skin cells and many of us don’t take the time to remove them. This can make your skin look dry and dull, so grab your scrub and hit the shower. Be gentle, follow a clockwise motion, rinse and apply your skincare. Aim to do this three times per week.

  1. Invest in quality skincare

There are so many products out there that look nice and fancy but are packed with chemicals. Before you apply anything to your skin, check what’s in the bottle. These toxic ingredients can do serious damage, and many of us don’t even know it. Our Neora range empowers your skin, with its natural, age-defying ingredients. Keep it simple and stock your shelf with a few key products that work for you. It’s important to hydrate your skin with a high-quality lotion, like our day/night creams.

  1. Wear minimal makeup

In summer, when it comes to makeup, less is best. A natural look wins, hands down. If you need to use a foundation, blend it with a high SPF sunscreen or even better, just use tinted moisturiser. Give your skin room to breathe.

  1. Sweat it out, then rehydrate

Exercising is good for the body, no matter what season it is. Release those toxins by completing a good workout but make sure to drink lots of water afterwards. This is really important in the heat. Exercising increases blood flow which carries oxygen and nutrients to working cells throughout the body, including the skin. This movement also helps carry away ‘waste’ from cells.

  1. Eat for your skin

We all know the saying: You are what you eat. Nourish your skin from the inside out. Include foods like these into your diet – salmon, broccoli, spinach, Brussel sprouts, grapefruit, blueberries, oysters, walnuts, tomatoes, eggs, garlic and green tea. Fatty fish, for example, contain omega-3 acids which combat inflammation. These ‘good’ fats boost the effectiveness of your cell membranes, helping you retain nutrients.

Clear, glowing skin is a multi-pronged approach, like all things health.
