What We Do

How We Started
It could be said, rightly, that Signum Biosciences CEO Maxwell Stock grew up in the lab, a child of research science. Following his father, Dr. Jeffry Stock, Chairman of Signum Biosciences and Professor and Independent Investigator at Princeton University to work, Max’s earliest memories are of the chemicals being studied, the tools being used, the conversations around the dinner table of cells, biochemistry, micro-organisms and bacteria. A fascination that never abated, through a major in molecular biology at the University of Colorado, to work in the science industry, to 3 years of bench work generating data to the formation, with his father, of Signum Biosciences. The close relationship of this father / son team, their shared entrepreneurial spirit, and their belief that great science must go from the bench all the way to the shelf where it can help people in their real lives with real solutions to real problems, has made Signum Biosciences what it is today; a biotechnology company with a reputation for great science, operating in the lab and in the lives of real people. SIG-1273 is a multi-functional novel compound designed to address the many causes of skin ageing which can be found in Neora’s Day & Night Creams. How was it developed? What makes this ingredient so impactful and unique?
SIG-1273 was developed through our research with Isoprenylcysteine molecules IPC’s. It targets the cause of ageing at a cellular level by acting as a powerful anti-oxidant, reducing oxidative stress and free radial damage from sun, pollution, and other environmental factors. It protects against collagen breakdown, mimics and boosts the skin’s natural age-fighting mechanisms as well as blocks UVb induced IL-6, a pro-inflammatory cytokine.

How it developed and what was makes it so impactful? SIG-1191 was also developed through our research with Isoprenylcysteine molecules IPC’s. What makes SIG-1191 so impactful and unique is its ability to utilise Aquaporin-3, the major aquaporin found in the skin. AQP3’s role in the skin is to increase glycerol and water content which results in increased hydration, moisturisation, barrier recovery and wound healing. It also increases Heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) expression which is responsible for breaking down HEME. HEME accumulation underneath the eyes is one of the main causes of dark circles beneath the eye.
